LITTERATURE ON STAGE
As a lover of literature it is particularly vitalising, oxidising and satisfying to see literature unfolded on stage as theatre. Literature unfolds in time and space. When it is been given a voice and a body, new details, angles and potentials occurs.
Literature releases itself from its familiar surroundings of the book and is being set free when it is spoken out loud. The acting of literary texts gives them new and peculiar expressions. At the same time stage art is always in a cheeky, gentle, rebellious and respectful dialogue with the original material, which is the literary text.
As a playgoer one often feel the urge after a successful staging of a text to go back and examine the literary foundation of the play – Maybe by rereading or reading the book for the first time. At CPH STAGE you will find an extensive selection of performances, that takes their off spring in literature. It is an excellent opportunity to experience the texts live – and maybe challenge your own readings of the good old classics.
