WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES THE PERSONAL STORY MAKE ON STAGE?

Teater V and Livingstones Kabinet both present a personal story in their works. In the moving story WHY ME? by Teater V we meet a woman who has recovered from cancer sharing her story in a way so many people in the audiences feel deeply connected with. Livingstones Kabinet’s CANADA is immersive animation theatre, using black humour and live music to tell a personal story of inherited trauma through the eyes of a child. What is it about the personal, authentic story that makes a difference to audiences? And what kind of artistic strategies are necessary to balance the line between personal and private?

In discussion: Nina Kareis (Livingstones Kabinet), Christina Selden (Teater V), Olga Drygas (Nowy Teatr – PL), Egill Pálsson (Hålogaland Teater – NO)
