2021 – Andreas Liebmann / Boaz Barkan // TOTAL INTERNATIONAL (LOKAL) (Performance)
THE SHOW : TOTAL INTERNATIONAL (LOKAL)
How can people in distance come together in a common space of imagination?
Total International (Local)“ is a dance between friends who have never met in a physical space at work. The performance takes place simultaneously in two international venues, and all performers are always present – two of them physically. How can internationally producing artists get out of the dilemma that their own way of working is no longer ecologically justifiable?
TOTAL INTERNATIONAL (LOKAL) is a distance-specific performance dedicated to ‘The Death of The Global Artist’. An end to the Global Artist as the ultimate model of global consumption.
The Global Artist is an untenable and unsustainable position that wastes resources, through air travel and environmentally problematic international art-tourism. And the treatment of the earth as a resource to be consumed and owned in a prolongation of the consumer colonial mindset.
The performance artists Boaz Barkan and Andreas Liebmann perform a collaboration across disciplines (Dance and Performance) and across countries (Denmark and Serbia).
The piece explores answers to questions that were already at a peak before the Corona crisis and have since become more explosive.
Duration : 70 min
Andreas Liebmann and Boaz Barkan are looking for international venues who want to find new ways for sustainable international performance collaboration. A rethinking of the production process and the new narratives and aesthetics that this might produce. The interested venues might program a local performance at the place and connect it to Liebmann/Barkan who then might perform in a venue in Denmark, or Liebmann/Barkan will travel to the venue by train and then connect to another performance in the world which by that way can be made present at the venue without travelling there. The performance addresses regular performance audiences or people that are interested in questions of environment and close-distance relations.
