Digital Showcase : SambaUPPERCUT DANSETEATER
01/06/21 // 12.15pm – 13.15pm // ONLINE
Uppercut Danseteater and CPH STAGE offer you a unique digital showcase specially designed for CPH STAGE’s International Days 2021 and broadcasted live.
In collaboration with the curated companies CPH STAGE has developed a new format for digital showcasing. Instead of presenting the whole work – this is a way to present an artistic essence, the artistic DNA of the work in a shorter timeframe aligned with the digital opportunities. This means 10-20 minutes artistic showcasing followed by 40 minutes of reflections.
Welcome to the blood-red imagination of the porker! A samba arena, a show ring, a hotbed, a pigsty. A circus of festivities, fellowships, secrets and seduction.
In WHAT WAS MUST DIE – SAMBA we meet the character Pig, who comes to life in the form of a pig’s mask. The performance revolves around how the space between us affects our relations to our inner swine – from the performers’ as well as the onlookers’ perspective.
The compressed digital version allows you to become part of the narrative even if you are not present in the same space.
Uppercut Dance Theater is already well established on the international urban dance circuit. Their strategy for the next few years is to expand the activities abroad to include a broader segment of modern dance communities.
As dance critic Anne Middelboe Christensen writes: SAMBA “… is a bold dance production with international potential”. Hence Uppercut intends to use SAMBA as a “spearhead” show in order to achieve their goals.
