Winter’s Tale

Østerbro Teater

Why: If you enjoy classic theatre at its best don’t miss Katrine Weidemann’s fabulous interpretation of Shakespeare’s fairy-tale jealousy drama. The story has been pared to the bone, the text has been thoroughly pruned and the passion fired up with a ritzy cast who deliver a series of sparkling performances. Wiedermann is celebrated for her visually striking productions and this one is no exception. Everything clicks, and Shakespeare’s play has seldom come across with such clear-cut definition.

The Reumert prize nominated play, WINTER’S TALE is back!

Look forward to see Shakespeare’s fairytale WINTER’S TALE! King Leontes and Queen Hermione enjoy time with their beloved friend, Polixenes. A warm and playful relation characterizes the three of them, but all of a sudden King Leontes is hit by a destructive jealousy. He is convinced that his wife has cheated on him with Polixenes. King Leontes commands his nobleman Camillo to kill Polixenes. Camillo and Polixenes succeed to flee, but Queen Hermione is thrown in jail, where she gives birth to a girl. King Leontes refuses to own the daughter and the infant’s destiny is entrusted to higher powers.
