Show Me LoveHils Din Mor
CPH STAGE HIGHLIGHT
Why: Movie adapted for the stage are one of this year’s major trends, and this production is one of the most successful. There has surely never been such an affectionate, good-natured, sensitive and emotional reading of this celebrated teen drama. It’s about more than the love two girls share for each other in the godforsaken provincial backwater of Åmål: it’s just as much about well-meaning parents side-lined by seething adolescent hormones, identities being forged, and feelings devoured by frustration and burgeoning love. Fucking Åmål gives you a chance to catch the many nuances of youthful life in a superbly acted, entertaining and profoundly comic tale that goes straight to the heart. See it with your teenager!
Nothing happens in Åmål – the youngsters erase their boredom with parties, alcohol and absolutely nothing. Lots of prejudices and if you fall outside the norm the city can be hell to live in.
Agnes and Elin lives in Åmal and they are two very different girls. Agnes moved to town two years ago and still has no friends. She is hopelessly in love with Elin, who is the coolest girl in school, but she doesn’t dare tell anyone because she is afraid of being bullied. When their paths finally cross, they find out that they have a great deal in common and an unexpected journey begins.
A story about first love, about finding yourself and daring to stand by who you are.
