RIPE BODY

“RIPE BODY” is a dance performance in two parts, “RIPE BODY:CARVING” and “RIPE BODY:RIP IT”. The first part is an interactive installation; the second part a mesmerizing party. The audience moves freely around a nearly four-meter-high, transparent box with a mirror-clad floor beautifully placed on the quayside of the Royal Danish Playhouse. Here, everyone is invited into a feminine universe that is as sparkling as it is carnal.

Through the body, choreographer and performer Ruth Rebekka Hansen seeks to put a kaleidoscopic filter on gender to both deconstruct and redefine the feminine. The performance won a Reumert in the category Special Performance of the Year in 2025.

“RIPE BODY:CARVING”: In the show's first part, the body is exhibited as a living flesh sculpture, moving in and out of recognizable shapes, awkward twists and gazes imitating connection. The work delves into how attention, morality and ownership have followed the feminine body. Here, the audience is invited to closely study the shaping of something feminine and their own reactions to the unfolding of the body. (Plays June 5 at 18:00 and June 6 at 16:00).

“RIPE BODY:RIP IT”: In the second part of the performance, the work gears up for a mesmerizing, explosive performance with pulsating music. In a landscape of heavy beats and glittering costumes, the audience is invited to a celebration of a femininity that embodies more of everything. The result is fluid, seductive and festive. “RIPE BODY” is dedicated to anyone who feels a contact to a feminine universe, no matter in what degree or form.

The performance is curated and presented by CPH STAGE in collaboration with Ruth Rebekka Hansen and the Royal Danish Theatre.
