TALK: AI AND THE ARTIFICIAL LONGING

Drawing on the performance “AI KNOW YOU”, fix+foxy invites you to a talk on AI and spirituality. Join a conversation between Tue Biering, Artistic Director of fix+foxy. Anders Weile Larsen, PhD student in Social Data Science, Ada Ada Ada, algorithmic artist and Søren Harnow Klausen, philosopher and professor at SDU. The discussion will be moderated by Nanna Schmidt Nordestgaard and will explore the growing desire to be understood and to feel a sense of connection – a desire that many AI technologies today seek to fulfil. From AI companions and chatbots to so-called “griefbots” that allow us to speak with the deceased.

At the same time, this raises questions about how these needs may become a resource that tech giants can harvest data from and build new markets around. What kind of human need is technology reflecting? And what happens when machines begin to take on roles we once associated with relationships, faith, and care?
